groovy fairies

These outfits were definitely made with lots and lots of love for my beautiful fairy god daughters . I had a great time in NY shopping and letting them pick the fabric themselves . They wanted something different and colorful , I must say , the skirts do represent these two pixies . I love them so much . I'm going to have to start sewing them a few more. My sister said they loved showing them off at school  . I also made the cutest pink dress for Serena . She said she is wearing it to school on Friday because all the girls are wearing pink ! I made Gianna a cute culotte and tank but BOO HOO It was 2 big ! I told her no worries , she likes Serena's dress so I will get right on it making one for her !!  They are the best !!

tank top- 2 big! @#$%^&
culottes- 2 bad they were so big

Peace out Pj's for the fairy sisters

Peace signs , cause you know they are cool hippie chicks , I mean ,,, cool fairies

oh ...and since I have some extra fabric and my girlfriend Susan had asked me to up cycle a pair of old jeans and T shirt- I made a little fun peace outfit for Meadow. I like working with appliques.

Fall ruffle skirt for Stella

My husband Chris has been complaining that all he sees coming out of my sewing room are girl clothes . " Can't I have one stinking pair of pjs ??!??? "  I made him pick the fabric of choice and then it sat in my fabric stash for months . Father's Day comes around and I decide to make the man his stinking pajama pants ! Lol . He loved them ... but wait ... extra fabric . Not exactly girly unless ... Maybe some ruffles... And then ...gather it all up .... A fall skirt for Stella . Cute pair of boots ? Some tights ? A cream sweater .,, the girl will be stylin

Easter Sunday and organza fabric

I was walking though The fabric store and I spotted a beautiful organza . It had iradedscent thread running through it with shapes of colorful Easter eggs . Sheer and lightweight . Hmmm if I put a cotton skirt underneath it what would it look like ? White , noooo . Pink ? Nah . Purple PURPLE love it  !!! Can you imagine how thrilled I was when pixie Meadow showed up at my house Easter morning looking oh so beautiful ! I love little girls all dressed up for Easter . As a side bonus a tiny little  bit of fabric was left over ,so  out popped a tiny skirt for Stella !

Batik fabric , so beautiful

LOVE this fabric . Pink and purple swirls of color,It is so beautiful to look at it . Perfect for a summer dress . It's not something you would normally find in a child's store . That's why I like to sew . To sew things you wouldn't see normally .  I decided to make this for Stella . Her dad is my best guy friend . He is my male counterpart  . He told me he loves Stella in pink and purple . I mixed the batik with  a solid pink cotton gathered skirt . I actually did this without a pattern . The bodice has a buttonhole in the back that the straps run through . This way I didn't have to worry about getting the straps perfectly right . Mom just pulls it to fit . Rafael loved it and told me the little fairy had a great time twirling round and round !

Willow branch fabric for the pixie Stella fairy

This is not a design or a color I would have normally  chosen for a little girl but there was something about it . Stella's mom loved it and pulled it immediately for   selection .  So I began to think what can we do with this ? Skirt ? Shirt ? Dress?  I like to find fabric and then do the outfit . Others that sew may do it the  other way around . I however enjoy the actual fabric selection . This one was soft and subtle ..Stella likes to dress herself so a cute over the head pinafore with a gathered skirt would work . I mixed it with a satin ruffled chocolate ribbon around the waist . Stella loved it and wore it for her school pictures . Her mom said she got many compliments . A couple of months later I started doing my pillow case dresses ... Hmmmm ... I had some of that willow fabric ... And then , in a  flutter of fairy wings out popped the design on this one ...soooo 2 different  dresses when I was only planning one for this fabric !

The fairy sisters and their new Easter dresses

Gianna and Serena, my beautiful god daughters and special little fairies , live so far on the edge of the grotto I barely get to see them. When I finally get to see them we have so much fun! They sing like angels and they are so very funny . They always make me smile. I love how they love each other . They remind me of my sister and I.  They are best fairy friends . The first dresses I made for them were very difficult , their beautiful mom , my sister Debbie , sent measurements but it was so hard for me to visualize if they would fit ! I picked an A line dress pattern and went to work . White cotton with baby blue polka dots and blue satin ribbon .I cut two different necklines  because they are sisters , not twins . After I was done I knew they needed something . Flowers and headbands ! Perfect just like them !!!

THEY FIT!!

Stella couture

Stella is the daughter of my very dear friend Rafael . She is in kindergarten and Chelsea calls her
" Nugget " . She actually reminds me of Chelsea as a little girl . One day I showed her a picture of Chelsea when she was the same age  and Stella announced , "That's me ! " My reply, "No Stella, its not you. Her reply, "YESSSS it is!!"
At this point her mom, Chelsea and I were all laughing. I told her, no its not...its Chelsea and then she smiled a big beautiful smile. She is such a little diva . She will calmly let me fit her to check for size but hates those needles . She points at them and  says " take them out !" She is also very sweet when she smiles , claps her hands when I make her something  and says ,That's pretttyyyyyy !! I just adore this Little pixie .  So glad her mom Christa likes to dress her in fun things . Christa has an eye for certain fabrics and one afternoon we picked out lots off material , while Chelsea chased Stella around the store. HMMMM or maybe she was she chasing Chelsea??!!?? LOL.
More cute little things I made and Chel helped design  in a future  post, but check out the ruffle denim pants below , So Stella Bella !!!
