Sleep song of the fairies

Sleep Song.
By Steven Kroll
How far and wide the fairies fly
On bright and golden wing.
But when they settle down to sleep
A gentle song they sing
Sweet Queen of Night
Soft silver stars
We're glad you are so near
We seek our beds
We rest our heads
Without a moment's fear
On thistledown
In hidden nooks
We watch the waning light
The joys of sleep
Upon us creep
We wish you all good night

~ I'm a Faerie ~

I breathe in air that is only as sweet as sugar.
My heart beats only for my passion (love)
My skin is a peaches n' cream combination
My tongue says only clean words
And, my ears hear just the same.
I wake up every morning and know...
that I am special.
I am beautiful, graceful, and perfect.
I am a faerie.

If you see a fairy ring....

If You See A Fairy Ring.
Author Unknown
If you see a fairy ring
In a field of grass,
Very lightly step around,
Tip-Toe as you pass,
Last night Fairies frolicked there
And they're sleeping somewhere near.
If you see a tiny fairy
Lying fast asleep
Shut your eyes
And run away,
Do not stay to peek!
Do not tell
Or you'll break a fairy spell

Nana's girls love PINK

My girlfriend Paula prefers Nana over Grandma. I prefer Grandma. Paula and I  met during a time period in my life where I moved from NY to Florida. I lived in Florida only 18 months but made a friend for a lifetime. We don't get to see each other often, but when we do...we laugh like we are kids. She will always be my partner in crime when I land in Florida.
So, back to my original thought, nana vs grandma. On my recent trip to Florida, Paula and I met up. Her son Jonathan, who I remember as a teenager is now a father of 3. I started to laugh calling her grandma. I just cant believe it. She said..."oh nooo...they call me Nana. It makes me sound less old."
I disagree. So there in the bar, people all around, we entertained strangers asking them...nana or grandma ??!!?? Which sounds older??
It was split down the middle. I don't know...I want to be called grandma one day. One day...not now.
Paula is coming to visit in a couple of weeks...her granddaughters Cat and Kylie are now officially in the fairy grove. I made them 2 pink pillow case dresses. I love how they came out!! I love to sew for sisters!!

Sunshine on my shoulder/ matching outfits for the new fairys

My husband's family in Georgia are the very best in laws a girl could ask for . Three little baby girls and a beautiful pre teen are the focus of this post . Ansley , Emily, Brooklyn and Isabella are the newest fairies to join the fairy grotto . It has taken me some time to get to them because I needed to sew for all of them at one time . I couldn't sew for one and not the other ! Every year the family gets together and does a matching Christmas photo . This year they plan to do it on the beach . The grandmother of the fairies , Eileen, is so very special to me . She is my husbands Aunt but treats me like I'm her daughter in law . She is a very special lady . She wanted the girls in a coral for the picture . I couldn't resist this print mixed with the solid . It just reminded me of sunshine ! Pillowcase dresses were a good idea to ensure a fun  feeling and perfect for various sizes . The pre teen would look lovely in a gathered skirt . So excited to finish these !' Can't wait to sew a next " matching " round for these beautiful little fairies !

Update to this post ! The Fairy is born , she is beautiful and the dress came out darling !

My girlfriend Alyson asked me to do a dress for her friends baby shower . I wanted to try something a little advanced . Lace is obviously needed . A Batiste fabric , a special little foot to sew teeny tiny pin tucks . A Twin needle,  a heirloom needle and special satin thread .I spent an hour with a saleswoman who sold me #%!!%^ $8 bucks for one spool of thread ! The saleswoman :  " MY DEAR if you are going to do it you need to do it with quality , It takes many hours to produce such work , you cant buy this thread or this material in Joannes . Its a Martha  Pullen  fabric of choice ."   My thought : God damn it . Who the hell is she !??? ! Ok, I looked her up . She is a big deal in this sewing world . Not sure I'm up for this . It  better turn out gorgeous or I'm going to cry and flood the pixie grotto!

Butterfly's and fairies

They just go together . My fairy Meadow looked just beautiful in this dress and little bag that I made for her . This was actually the first dress I made for a little girl. The zipper was definitely challenging but when I was finished...after three attempts, it went in perfectly! LOL I finished the dress off with a sheer pink ribbon. I learned quickly that some ribbon you cannot iron without shredding!!!

At the end of the day, I was pleased with the result. My girlfriend Susan loved it, she said Meadow gets  a ton of compliments every time she wears it. My little fairy loves to do the twirly thing when she wears its. I just  LOVE that!!

A Cream sickle Fairy

The color of the print reminds me of a Cream sickle  ! I love orange . Such a fabulous spring color . I had fun doing a mix of blouses and pants for my little fairy Stella .I added a little lace on the print pants and the blouses .I added a double ruffle on the jeans . I previously made her ruffle pants and these had to be a little different ! I love special little details . In my opinion , it just makes everything look a little more special . I loved how they came out . Stella looked so cute !

groovy fairies

These outfits were definitely made with lots and lots of love for my beautiful fairy god daughters . I had a great time in NY shopping and letting them pick the fabric themselves . They wanted something different and colorful , I must say , the skirts do represent these two pixies . I love them so much . I'm going to have to start sewing them a few more. My sister said they loved showing them off at school  . I also made the cutest pink dress for Serena . She said she is wearing it to school on Friday because all the girls are wearing pink ! I made Gianna a cute culotte and tank but BOO HOO It was 2 big ! I told her no worries , she likes Serena's dress so I will get right on it making one for her !!  They are the best !!
